Smart Optimizing System(JMPASS-43)

Smart Optimizing System is a newly invented controlling system, not only functions as a junction box, but also plays as a PV shading buster.

Shade is always the invisible killer for solar energy. It is common from sources like trees, dusts, snows, chimneys, buildings, power lines and even bird droppings. When it comes, solar efficiency can be decreased significantly, and the power of the solar array is only as strong as the weakest-performing panel. In fact, as little as 10% shade on an array can result in as much as 50% lost energy. Soyo Link Smart Optimizing System can maximize the power efficiency of each cell loop instead of individual panel, and the lost energy can be reclaimed.

According to TTC‘s(Telecom Technology Center) report (as below), the function of traditional diode system was crashed by shades (as picture), but Soyo’s Smart Optimizing System still kept stable and high performance.

To prevent from hot spot effect-Thermal Test:

Shade can cause by-pass diode in junction box heat rising, and gradually damage the box. The heated junction box could also conduct heat to the cells on the opposite side, and then gradually infect the neighbor cells, and finally the whole panel and even the solar array.

Soyo Link Smart Optimizing System has very low heat rising while in shade. The system can control individual cells loop instead of panel, which means it can make un-shaded cell strings still keep high efficiently working while the shaded one being by-passed. When the temperature of the panel rises to certain level, Soyo Link’s Smart Optimizing System can start the safety system to by-pass the heated cells loop to prevent from hot spot effect, and restart in few minutes after the shade being removed.

  1. Low heat rising, low resistance and low dissipation
  2. To create 50% more power than diode system :
    1. To eliminate the VF (Forward Voltage) obstacle existed in by-pass diode to create more power.
  3. To support micro-inverter and string inverter :
    1. JMPASS system can output more stable voltage than diode system does while in shading to help micro-inverter always tracking maximum power point steadily
  4. Higher performance than MPPT optimizers :
    1. To save the other string modules, MPPT optimizers will sacrifice the whole shaded module. (1 cell loop by-pass = 3 cell loops by pass). By comparison JMPASS system can produce more power, as the other 2 un-shaded loops are still high efficiently working while 1 loop is in shade.
  5. More competitive cost than MPPT optimizers :
    1. Embedded controlling system makes JMPASS not only functions as junction box, but also create more power while in shading.
  6. Safety controlling system to prevent from hot spot effect and fire risk:
    1. No heat conduction as traditional diode, no jeopardize the system.
    2. The small scale shade like bird dropping could cause current partly goes through by-pass diode. The serious Vf (over 0.4V) problem in diode could cause hot spot to happen with the time. By comparison JMPASS’s least Vf (0.09V) completely overcome the safety problem caused by diodes.

About Soyo Smart PV Module

When it comes, the diode junction boxes of traditional PV modules would start heat rising rapidly not only to damage junction box, but also to conduct heat to the cells on the opposite side, and then to infect the other cells and even whole system. Because of high temperature effect, solar efficiency can be decreased significantly, and the power of the solar array is only as strong as the weakest-performing panel. In fact, as little as 10% shade on an array can result in as much as 50% lost energy.
